If you want to see P'town or nearby, the ferry (which is what the company providing the service calls it) is a good choice. The high-speed service is a bit pricey, but makes a nice day trip and a super mini-vacation if you just need a break from the city.

There are also buses that take you elsewhere on the cape. (I don't have the link, but you could search on Boston Cape Cod Bus service.)

I do not know what the hell previous Answerers are referring to. There is NO FERRY from Boston to the Cape. There is ferry ervice only from New Bedford, Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket.

The boats to Provincetown are not ferries..

if you're planning solely on the Provincetown area, or want to bicycle the Cape, the ferry is excellent.

Avoid driving there in the summer, especially at peak travel times; it's a complete nightmare.

Okay..the ferry is a great trip in itself. I would ask you...what are you doing and how long are you staying when you get there? Yes, driving can be a bear! But once you are there you really may want a car to get to all the quaint villages and harbors and beaches. There is so much to see and do and getting there really is only half the question...consider what you plan on doing there.

If you have the money and want to go to Provincetown at the furthest point of the cape, Cape Air flies there quickly.

ferry is a great idea!
driving won't take that long, but sometimes you'll be in a brutal traffic jam...

the safest bet is to go on a ferry

The ferry is alright, depending where you're actually going. . . .It's pretty easy to drive, if you can avoid the traffic. . . .
