If you cross the Hudson River at the Tappan Zee Bridge, it will take much less time than getting caught up in traffic in the Bronx. You would then take the Garden State Parkway south and follow signs for Newark Airport. The way is well marked. If you did take the train, Amtrak has built a spur that goes right to the airport. Not all southbound trains go there, but this is a viable option. Driving: about 4 1/2 hours from Boston, 3 from Weston, in average traffic.

Gosh, what a long drive full of traffic! Might I suggest taking one of the low cost express buses from Boston South Station to NYC the cost is only $15 one way and there are several companies that run that route. I made the trip last month on a company called Lucky Star and it was pretty good. from the stop in New York, NJ Transit can take you the rest of the way for about $10. That would sure beat the driving headaches and high gas & toll prices! Good Luck!

I agree with the answer above, take a bus. Or, if you want to go even faster then the bus....take Acela from South Station in Chinatown, Boston to NYC. It's about $100, but takes just under 3 hours from Boston to NYC. The train runs between 75MPH and 150MPH, depending on where it is on the line.

Boston to NY/NJ is about 5 hours traffic at the Washington Bridge and near co-op city in the Bronx may add some time to the trip.
