I'm a minor(16) and it's my first time going to Vegas. It's just my mom and I taking off to Vegas for Christmas. We are staying at the Stratophere hotel and I know about the roller coaster but what else can i do while my mom is off gambling?

I am thinking about moving to Houston Texas and have some questions.

Are both the public and private schools good their?? What all is their to do? Do they have good night clubs? What amusement parks are in or around the area? How is the crime level? How hot does it get? Do they have a really big mall or just one or a few small ones?

I am going to travel from Stanford to Rancho Siempre Verde Christmas Tree Farm on Saturday, Dec. 2nd. Should I go north on 280, then across the hills using La Honda road to Hwy 1? Or should I go south on 280, then west on 17 to Hwy 1? My views on Google Earth are inconclusive: they look like they'd take about the same amount of time, considering the windy and narrow road of La Honda versus the possible speed of Hwy 17. Thoughts?
