I'm not the most knowledgable person, but I am somewhat of a California enthusiast, so here goes:

If you're into the Downtown scene, I would recommend The Standard - Downtown L.A. If Hollywood is your thing, either The Standard - Hollywood or the Renaissance Hollywood Hotel would be an excellent choice. Again, I'm not an expert on this stuff, but I do know these three hotels are pretty big names in the L.A. area. Good luck with your trip.

I'm assuming you are looking for something kinda special... I think Maison 140 in Beverly Hills would be a special experience (check it out with the link below). If you are looking at downtown, The Standard is good if you want a more mod atmosphere; personally I like The Biltmore better for that "old Los Angeles" feel. The New Otani in Little Tokyo is also a good choice for the Japanese themed suites. FYI: Special packages and cheaper prices are on the respective websites.

Well assuming price is no object you could try Chateau Marmont in West Hollywood, the Beverly Hills Hotel, or the Beverly Regent, they should all be good.

If you don't mind a drive, try the Mission Inn in Riverside. It is a gorgeous hotel with a spa, and restaurants included. Also a historical landmark:

Embassy Suites. That is the only thing i have to say. I live here in Pasadena, Ca. It is very romantic. Good luck.

I'm not in LA but I've been to 2 different Embassy Suites here in FL and they are really nice
