The Baltimore accent is kind of weird to me especially when they pronounce the O's. It's sounds a little like philly but a touch of southern and more eastern. Also Baltimore has a little New York vibe to me. So has anybody witness the Baltimore accent for themselves?

I can understand living in Manhattan in you are in the theater or modeling or some other artistic field that is a major industry there. But if you are a regular schmoe, why would you want to pay $2000 a month (or more) to live in a shoebox when there are so many wonderful places in the county in which... for the same money... you could live in a mansion (and still have money left over to do things!)

I'm looking for something cheap but not terrible, and it has to be close to downtown. I'd like to be able to walk around the heart of chicago and be somewhat close to the hotel.

Keep it under 250,000 people. For example, Lubbock, Plano, Grand Prairie, Laredo, or smaller.

My picks: McGregor, Lone Star, Tyler, Crawford, Galveston, Belton, New Braunfels

I heard of this place called wonder Valley Ranch Resort and they say it's a really nice place in the Sierra Nevada area near the giant sequoias in california. Supposidly it's a summer camp during the summer and a resort and conference center the rest of the year. Has anyone ever been there and can you tell me how you liked it. Do you recommend that I take my family there?

For some time, I have always wanted to live/work/play in NYC. Has anybody here ever successfully transplanted themselves in to the city? Got work, got housing, lived life relatively okay? Thanks.
