Hello. My brother needs to take a vacation. He hasn't been able to go anywhere because his plans keep falling through with his friends. His friends cannot afford a vacation, but he can. Where would you recommend a single person go on a vacation by him/herself where he/she will have a good time, but be able to relax? Also a place where he/she won't look like a loser for being alone.
My brother has a very stressful job and hasn't had a vacation in 3 years. Please only give real answers. Tell me where you would recommend and why?
Additional details: My brother is 26, straight, college educated and from Indiana. He is also kinda cheap so nothing too extravagant.
Thank you.

Is Carol Stream, Chicago, a town, a city, or simply a residential complex?

my husband has a job in miami beach starting feb07. we are from the uk & have never even been there before, yet we are ready for a change & will move over with our 4 young kids, at least for the duration of the 18 months contract.

im worried as we dont speak spanish & i dont even drive. its hard to get honest positive advice on which areas we should even begin to look for rental acomodation in, as so many people are negative about the roads, weather, schools & crime. Surely there is a neighbourhood where i will feel at home & not too isolated while my husband is at work & where i can feel comfortable sending my children to school?

i am used to my modest house & garden, with high fences & trees for privacy, my local shop is less than 5 mins away as are parks & a lake to play at with the kids - my neighbours all say hi to me in the mornings...

surely there a affordable place there for us? one where there will be other mums at home & familes who are completely average like us.

When the railway closed down los angeles had to depend on freaking buses for 20 something years before opening the metro rail honestly the people who ran los angeles could of kept at least 6 streetcar lines including the entire long beach line active and upgrade them over the decades eventually turning 2 of the lines into light and heavy rail lines and now LA is known for its horrible traffic, smog and many freeways plus its going to take many years before LA can be more predestrian friendly city and county.

I'm going to SF this labor day weekend, we'll be staying at Union Square area which I know, its a good spot for shopping.
But I'm hoping I could find another shopping spot, like vintage clothing store and small boutiques too.
Like in LA, if you want to find vintage clothing, you just go to La Brea/Melrose or small boutique you go to Melrose, Santa Monica etc.
And some cool places for hang out too wouldnt hurt.
And is sausalito nice place to visit?
And where is the famous place (where there's a neighbourhood that show at "Full House")?
Could any fashionista and shopaholic help me?
Thanks !

I have always wanted to live in California since I was a little girl. My husband said we could consider it, but we need to research it first. Where is somewhere nice and not to expensive and resonable distance from the ocean. I have always thought that LA would be so fun or Venice Beach. I don't know the area and know that those are expencive places, but what is nice that is close. What are we talking about for prices and cost of living?
