Hello. My brother needs to take a vacation. He hasn't been able to go anywhere because his plans keep falling through with his friends. His friends cannot afford a vacation, but he can. Where would you recommend a single person go on a vacation by him/herself where he/she will have a good time, but be able to relax? Also a place where he/she won't look like a loser for being alone.
My brother has a very stressful job and hasn't had a vacation in 3 years. Please only give real answers. Tell me where you would recommend and why?
Additional details: My brother is 26, straight, college educated and from Indiana. He is also kinda cheap so nothing too extravagant.
Thank you.

OK since some of you say you need details. He owns a golden retriever. He isn't what I would call adventurious. On the weekends he usually goes out to the sports bar with friends. He rides a bike to stay in shape.
Since he hasn't really had a proper vacation, I just don't know what vacation spots to tell him. I am married with kids. I have never been on a vacation by myself. I don't know where it is fun to go when you are by yourself. I know what I like with friends or family.

Its depends on his like which you have foolishly not listed in your question so you will only get general vague answers and guesses.
Cancun has nightlife, great hotels, and beaches as well as everything else you can imagine at a world class resort.
If he dives, Fiji
If he's adventurous and has two weeks South Africa Kruger Park-self drive.
If he has three weeks go hiking in Nepal
If he's not lazy he can google single travel and find thousand of other options

I would suggest Disney World. (It may not be the cheapest) I have gone there alone, had a great time. There is so much to do and see. Most folks are very friendly and will chat you up in line for the rides.

At Downtown Disney there are nightclubs to enjoy the nightlife that a single 26 year old guy would look for.

No one looks at you strange for being alone. (unless you start stalking little kids!)

My favorite park is Disney/MGM. Great rides there, although ALL the parks are fun. Epcot is great too. You can go through the World Showcase and get a taste of what many different countries are like. (and it is cheaper than travelling to all those countries!)

Hope he has a good time.

Washington DC is the perfect place for him. He'll enjoy wandering through the museums by himself, and he can ride his bicycle around the city. Three days should be enough to see most of the sites at a leisurely pace.

If he wants more seclusion and doesn't mind driving a lot, he can tour the canyons out West - start in Las Vegas and drive to Bryce Canyon, Zion Canyon, Grand Canyon, Sunset Crater, and the Petrified Forest. I think it's about 400 miles in all and should take about a week at a comfortable pace.

Hawaii, preferably Maui. Although Kuaui is also peaceful and very relaxing.

He can ride a helicopter, go to a Luau, snorkel in the crystal blue waters with huge turtles. Scuba diving, road to Hana, hike, submarine ride, Tour Oahu, with pearl harber and the beautiful Waikiki.

~~ There is so much to do and discover in Hawaii. I can`t wait to go back!!!

They have great cruises for single people. I went on one (when I was single) and had a great time. Carnival Cruise has a lot of destinations. Check with a travel agency.

you will love a cruise, yet they require double occupancy, and does not be achievable. i do no longer understand the place you reside, yet you may desire to evaluate the beaches of south Texas, Galvaston Island or Corpus Christi
