Anyone know if there is a difference?

I cannot beleive how expensive it is in the UK!
I am an American, and want to really see what Scotland is like. I am planning on staying there for 3 months, but for that length of time, I will only have around 25-30 pounds per day to spend on food, transportation, entertainment etc.

and the bus is 5 pounds of that or more each day. but I am taking my laptop and I guess if it is raining or something I could just study, but what would you suggest?

have not really any money for pubs or nothing, no cigarettes no way (5 pounds for that too! rediculous!)

Hi, I'm flying over to London on Friday to visit some friends. I land at Heathrow, and then I'm taking the Tube to Tooting Bec station. I've already got directions, but I was wondering about the fare- namely how much should I expect to pay? Should I get a one-day pass as we will probably be going out on the Tube later that day?

Also, I'll be landing with US Dollars, not Sterling. I imagine I'll need to change some at the airport for the Tube, but are there banks open on Saturdays in the UK? Would I be able to change $$ anywhere else? Should I just pull $$$ out at a cashpoint seeing as how I will be arriving early AM on Saturday?

Thanks.

I am flying from Heathrow Terminal 3, therefore I think I need to get to the station called Heathrow Terminal 1, 2 or 3 (HXX) - but when booking on NationalRail.com I get the alternative ZHJ as well as HXX which is much cheaper. Can I use this station? I have no idea where it is or how far it is from the terminal compared to HXX, and the National Rail website offers no help.

ie. will I be able to walk easily, or do I need to catch a bus?

thanks for any help you can give me, i'm getting a train from Derby.

We will be staying in the UK in Dec. 07. We're staying in Croydon, specifically near South Croydon. I can't find any info about the Tube being available in this area. I also can't find any info as to how we're going to get from London Heathrow Airport Terminal 3 to Croydon. My husband is seriously considering renting a car, which I'm against since we've never been to the UK before. How much do the taxis generally charge? Thank you.
