Hi, I'm flying over to London on Friday to visit some friends. I land at Heathrow, and then I'm taking the Tube to Tooting Bec station. I've already got directions, but I was wondering about the fare- namely how much should I expect to pay? Should I get a one-day pass as we will probably be going out on the Tube later that day?

Also, I'll be landing with US Dollars, not Sterling. I imagine I'll need to change some at the airport for the Tube, but are there banks open on Saturdays in the UK? Would I be able to change $$ anywhere else? Should I just pull $$$ out at a cashpoint seeing as how I will be arriving early AM on Saturday?

Thanks.

The journey should take about 1 hour - for all you need to know about travelling in London please visit :-

There will be 'Bureau de Change' facilities open within the airport - but you will not get the best rate from them - best to use an ATM - which you will also find in the airport terminal building - please make sure that the debit/credit card you intend to use has a 4 digit NUMERICAL PIN (no letters on the ATM keys.

As Heathrow is in zone 6, a one day Zone 1-6 Travelcard, after 9.30am, is £6.70.

Total journey time about 90 minutes. If you arrive after 09-30am, a one day pass 'One Day Travelcard' will be the best value ticket.
