I'm going to Puerto Rico later this week and want to know if I should buy my currency here or when I get there.
Anyone know if there is a difference?

Exchange most of your cash before you go and just exchange some there if you need more money. If you exchange in the Post Office and many travel agents, they will do the exchange for free but they probably will charge you for this in Puerto Rico.

I just use ATMs, exchanging currency hasn't been necessary since the 80s.

Buy it here & you can change it back for free when you get back. Get it commision free from your bank or go to American Express. Should be little if any difference in exchange rates.
