You should be fine if you travel by train; the trains and stations are full of people and well staffed. Direct trains from Cardiff to London (Paddington) run every 30 minutes Monday to Friday, hourly Saturday and Sunday. For Oxford take the same train and change at Didcot or Reading. Total journey time for both destinations is about 2 hours 15 minutes. The operator is First Great Western - www.firstgreatwestern.co.uk

Well, I've never been on a train to London, but i'm sure it can't possibly be be dangerous, and a lot of the train i've been on usually have a lot of people and that makes it a lot safer. Try during the day if you aren't sure. But i think it will be a great trip. Good luck.
