i will have a 24 hours layover in London so i need to stay at a hotel and take a cab from the airport. i won't have my son's car seat and base with me so i was wondering if the cab driver won't let in without a carseat for my son.
my son will be about 10 months at the time.
thank you

Order a PCO licensed private hire taxi from Addison Lee.

They are cheaper that black cabs and they do have integrated child booster seats in their VW Sharans.

The law regarding child seats is
"Children under 3 years

Children under 3 years must use the child restraint appropriate for their weight in any vehicle (including vans and other goods vehicles).

There is only one exception

* a child under three may travel unrestrained in the rear of a taxi if the right child restraint is not available.

Rear-facing baby seats must not be used in a seat protected by a frontal air-bag unless the air-bag has been deactivated manually or automatically. "

Will you have his push chair ? London Taxis are large enough to take one with the child sitting in it.

Taxi drivers rarely carry their own child seats, but may allow a child under 3 without one.

Car seats for children under (I think) 4"11 are mandatory everywhere in England, but I'm not too sure about the rules for taxis. Most taxi drivers would probably let you in.

You are silly for even thinking to not. Not for the sake of the law...you should be concerned about safety. It only takes one time and also basically you would be trustin the person you do not know driving. BAD IDEA.
