Hi! I am going to visit Amsterdam the last weekend of Sept. of this year with my boyfriend. Where should I stay (not too pricey, but not too crummy either)? What should I definitely check out? Thanks!

Where can I find a really easy-to-understand timetable of public transport in Amsterdam? i've been looking up the sites I want to go and see and have been reading about the tramlines which stop at them but I would like a breakdown of the different tram stops so I know when the hell to get off the tram?!

This is multi-part question:
1) I was wondering, how a dutch person would spell a name that is pronounced "zeff" in english? Is it a common name in the Netherlands?
2) I was told that there are a lot of people with the last name of Nilson/ Nilsen in the country yet when I looked in the phonebooks there are no Nilson's and only 2 Nilsen's. How common is the name?
3) Can you possibly give a link that is a reliable phonebook that I can use?

Thank you for the help

I found a live webcam of Groningen's market...
http://www.exceptionit.net/webcam/

That link shows you a live view of a market in Groningen ... now my question is ... what is that place if you've been there... is it in the downtown of Groningen... is it shops?

Also, do they have festivals here or what?Just tell me about that link if you know where is it.

Thanks :)

Does anybody know how much a carton of eggs cost in Holland? in addition, if you can add a reference to a relevant page on some website, (for example: a vegetables section on a Dutch supermarket website) it will be a great help.

Thanks!

I will be flying through Amsterdam and my dog will be shipping as cargo. I have a 9 hour layover in Amsterdam and was told that the airline (Northwest/KLM) has people who will feed and walk my dog during this layover. The dog is a Rotweiller and is actually very friendly, but may be nervous around strangers without me there. I would like to make a sign to attach to the outside of the crate and I would like it to be in English/Dutch/Arabic. I have someone who can help with the Arabic already but I need someone to translate the following paragraph into Dutch:

I'm 23 right now and currently living in the United States. This Fall I plan to be studying at conservatoire at the Hague in the Netherlands. I was wondering if anyone knew where I can find information about f rooms or apartments in the Haguer? I'm going by myself and would prefer a single room, but I could share a room as long as I am able to maintain my own privacy and that I don't get distracted by my tenent talking on the phone or playing music. I plan to be moving around late August (maybe around August 20 or so) since classes start near the beginning of September. I was wondering if anyone knew where I can find a place to stay in the Netherlands? As of now I don't speak a word of Dutch and so I would prefer English websites, but if anyone has any Dutch websites I could take a look at those too (I'll just translate them). Thank you very much.

Yes, I know it's quite premature. But, after having my holiday in the Netherlands, I fell in love with the place and had this feeling that I want to move once I finish university. Netherlands, in its own right, is one hell of a country. It possesses an extraordinary culture that will never cease to fascinate me. Such is my fascination that my prospects of moving to Netherlands remains strong.

Any thoughts with respect to employment? Housing? Things to avoid? Things to consider?

Qualification-wise, I currently have 8 GCSEs and 4 A-levels, and I will be reading BSc Economics at University of Birmingham, which commences later this year.
