I just came back from Amsterdam and one day, while we were there having a beer at this bar on the canal, my friend was like:"hey look at that house!it seems like it's going to fall". so, since then, for the rest of the weekend i started watching all of the houses there and most of them seemed crooked...so i wonder: is it something that they did on purpose or it just happend to became like that? (i dont know, maybe the ground wasnt enough flat or something like that)
hope somebody answers to me cause i bet money with my husband! ;)

I'm 15 and moving to the Netherlands, more specifically the Hague area. What is there to do for teens my age? What do people do, where do they shop, etc? Also, if there is anyone here going to ASH, what is it like?

P.S. Don't give me a hard time about the 'where do people shop' thing. I am not a conformist (I go with a totally different style than everyone else) I just want to know what to expect.

I just got back from Holland and couldn't get an accurate answer about what the 3 X's mean on the Holland logo. I was told it has nothing to do with the prostitution. One if for the floods, the other is for the holocaust, but I couldn't get an answer for what the last one means...does anyone know?

I heard that in the Netherlands the land is broken up into 3 parts and this determines when schools start and end. Is this true? if so, when are the starting dates? Do the universities start on the same day as the public schools do in that area or are they like some US colleges that start 2-3 weeks before the public/private school? Any other information about the schooling system that you think I might find interesting please add. I am going to college to become a teacher and would love to learn about other culture's schooling.

Well, on the telly (dutch channel) I just noticed that Flanders (dutch-speaking community of Belgium) and Wallonia (french-speaking community of Belgium) are in one big struggle with each other and that many of the Belgian politicians are actually talking about a break-up between the two communities. If this would happen would the Netherlands and Belgium fuse and become united under one flag (ofcourse as far as that's possible) or would Wallonia and Flanders become two seperate countries? What is youre opinion?

**Mark your words: its not HOLLAND but the Netherlands (Holland are just two of the provinces!).
