most lines to schiphol are a joint effort between KLM (the biggest dutch airline and northwest. Which means youll fly to with NW and back with KLM or the other way around.
from an american point of view, the weak dollar vs the euro makes anything in europe more expensive. so id imagine the american airline prices would be lower.

It's impossible to say. You have to check the exact dates and compare. Look on expedia.com
or travelocity.com
and enter your dates. If Martinair is not on there, go to
Martinair.com
and compare their prices, too.
They are a Dutch airline that might not deal with expedia,etc.
They don't fly from all US cities, though, so if you're not flying from one of their hubs, maybe they work with an American lliner to bring you cheaply to where they depart from.
