I'm 15 and moving to the Netherlands, more specifically the Hague area. What is there to do for teens my age? What do people do, where do they shop, etc? Also, if there is anyone here going to ASH, what is it like?

P.S. Don't give me a hard time about the 'where do people shop' thing. I am not a conformist (I go with a totally different style than everyone else) I just want to know what to expect.

What isn't there to do in The Hague? There's the beach, parks, indoor skating/skiing/karting, any sport you can think of, museums, malls (although not as big and cool as in the USA, and one of them, Babylon, is being rebuilt right now), lots of shops, cinema, dancing, restaurants, clubs, bars, exhibitions, concerts, neighborhood street parties... Start out in the city centre exploring shops, make sure to see Plein, Noordeinde, Prinsestraat, Denneweg, Grote Markt, Passage (very old mall, very nice!), Buitenhof and Haagse Bluf (new small outdoor mall), and then visit Scheveningen (beach resort and part of The Hague, not near to it, also has indoor and outdoor mall) and Kijkduin (smaller, quieter beach resort, also part of The Hague) after that. Forget about the Fahrenheitsstraat/Thomsonlaan! It's boring! :) Visit it once a year when they have braderie (festive market in the street), that's pretty cool.

here's some more sites that might give you an idea of what to expect;

Near the city of The Hague lies beach area Scheveningen. Even if cold weather, there's lots of fun for young people to be found.

For shopping in The Hague City, start off at Segbroek Area: the shopping streets of Fahrenheitstraat, Tomsonlaan and Thomsonplein. It's a fluriform shopping area, so there has got to be something there for you.

But I think it's best you pick your own choice of fun at the website: http://www2.holland.com/denhaag/gb/index.jsp

Welcome in our country.

As often I agree with Vincent.
But if you want to find the stores that sell your kind of non conformist clothing and jewelry, talk with people on the street who dress like you, or in a style you like. Many will be proud to send you to their favorite stores.

And if you crave for English language books and magazines, and even some American foodstuffs: the American Book Center has a shop at:
Lange Poten 23, 2511 CM Den Haag, The Netherlands
