Someone actually remembered that New York used to be New Amsterdam :)
However, we do not know much information about the US version of New Amsterdam (currently known as New York).
I`d suggest you ask in a US section of Y!A.

Try the New York part of the site, or the martial arts part.
I live within 25 miles of Amsterdam, Netherlands, and I can assure you that we do not have upstate NY in our country.
