You can travel on any tram in the Netherlands using a Strippenkaart, they cost 6.80 Euro if you buy them before getting on the Tram, and you get up to 7 rides on one of them, depending on the distance traveled (works with zones.)
When you buy a ticket on the tram you pay more, was 1.60 or 2.40 for a single ride, is a little more now.
Amsterdam and Rotterdam have a slightly different system for single rides with alike prices, but the strippenkaart is still valid.
