Yes, I know it's quite premature. But, after having my holiday in the Netherlands, I fell in love with the place and had this feeling that I want to move once I finish university. Netherlands, in its own right, is one hell of a country. It possesses an extraordinary culture that will never cease to fascinate me. Such is my fascination that my prospects of moving to Netherlands remains strong.

Any thoughts with respect to employment? Housing? Things to avoid? Things to consider?

Qualification-wise, I currently have 8 GCSEs and 4 A-levels, and I will be reading BSc Economics at University of Birmingham, which commences later this year.

Try to learn Dutch now, if you can handle it next to your study. It will improve your chances for a good job, even if you do not get it fluent, showing that you are willing to learn the local language shows an attitude that most employers like.
You can look for Dutch people in Birmingham, I know there are some, I do not know how to find them.

In Economics there are a lot of jobs for international companies that have an office in Amsterdam, Rotterdam or Den Haag.
Undutchables and English language job vacancy sites will show you what is available right now.

Work permits and visa will be no problem if you have an UK passport, but if not, check with http://www.ind.nl/EN/

If your study includes a trainee period, try to get one in the Netherlands, best way to experience the country without committing yourself.
It is different to live in a country from just visiting.

Housing situation for starters is hard, students need housing and people apply for an apartment years before they want to move as waiting lists can be 10 years long.
But if you work for an international company they can often help you getting a place to live, sometimes they own several apartments just for their employees.

i have to say i was fascinated by this country from teh very first moment i saw it... it is my favorite so far, from all the others i've visited. i am currently here for 3 months...

u might have to keep in mind that it can rain almost every day (for eg, it's been raining a lot here for 3 weeks)
u cna always find housing at a reasonable price - i think in the big cities it can be up to 800 euros, but u can easily find a nice cosy place for half the price.
people are ok... everybody speaks english, tehy have great cheese :))
concerning the employment, i think it shouldnt be a problem.
I can go on and on... but all i can say is:
i wish u all the best!!

It may help if you know the language. There is a language school in Spa, in Belgium. I am sure you will be able to find employment in your chosen field.
