My credit card charges a 3% transaction fee, and I believe several shops in Niagara-on-the-Lake claim they charge a fair currency exchange rate. Is it better to pay with a credit card, use US currency, or get Canadian currency beforehand either in US or from a Canadian bank or exchange? Thanks.

Was it the US or Canadian gov't that made the law requiring citizens from the US to have passports to visit Canada?

We are US citizen with american passport. We are visiting Canada for a week by Air in this July. I know that now we need to show passport for entering in US/Canada with a new law in effect. However, my son's (age 6) passport expires in Nov 2007 (within 6 months of travel dates) and I was wondering if this will create an issue entering in Canada and also while entering in US ports?

Any response with fact/publication will be helpful. Thanks

So I have looked around on Yahoo Answers and see nothing but negativity from both Canada and U.S. to one another. Do most Canadians HATE Americans? I must remind everyone I don't like Bush's ways, and I think he is as smart as a five year old. Also what is thought about Texans? Do you all think we are hickish people who ride horses and live on ranches? We don't haha.

Any bit helps, since I'm going there with my family to Victoria, I just need to know if I will get glared at or smiled at, lol.

I will be traveling by car into canada this summer. They will be day trips. My question, at the border is a birth certificate acceptable as well as a valid drivers license to enter in and out of the country? I do not have enough time to acquire a passport since this trip is scheduled in about 6 weeks. thanks

Next August, 2008, my husband and I have a meeting in Canada, and are planning to take our children, the oldest of whom will be 11. We are all US (Michigan) citizens. Will we all need passports, how much does a passport cost, and how long is it valid? Is this done through the Secretary of State's office?

I've heard that a U.S. citizen can enter Canada at a land border crossing without a U.S. passport, but cannot reenter the U.S. without one. Does anyone have any info about this? A link to clear info would be appreciated.
