As Americans favoring universal health care, we are often challenged to "ask Canadians" how they feel about their health care system. What better place than here?

When I submitted my passport renewal application back in May to Passport Canada, I didn't have travel plans. Now I am scheduled to travel on July 28 (3 weeks from the time this question was asked), but the Passport Canada web site says that they are getting a record number of applications, and it could take up to 15 weeks to process my application. (!!) Since my passport doesn't expire until October anyways, I would like to get my application back again and reapply when I have come back from my trip.

A CBC news article recently mentioned there is a 1-800 to get it returned, but for some odd reason they didn't give the number. Does anyone know the number, or know how I can get my passport back in order to travel on July 28?

My highschool Biology teacher once told me that it wasn't "Canadian Goose" but "Canada Goose", which led me to ask if this water fowl was actually from Canada? Could you refer me to the source of your answer(s)? Thank you. -M

I'm about to fill a form about my education. I have 4 years bachelor degree.
I had 5 years in elementary school.3 years in guidance(secondary) school then 4 years of high school and 4 years for my bachelor degree in university. As you know educational systems in countries differ.I want to know about Canada's.
I wondered how many years of formal education I've had?
Here in the form that I see bachelor degree is equal to 14 years of formal study.
I wanted to know how is the educational system there and which and from when they count the formal education years that have calculated it to 14 years for someone having bachelor degree.

Thank's :)

About a week or so ago I sent a parcel by airmail to an address in Ontario Canada. It had all the relevant documents attached i.e the recipients address, the Airmail sticker, the postage, the customs sticker and my return address, and this is the way I have always sent parcels not only to Canada but to many other countries and had no problems. However yesterday the parcel was returned to me with a pink sticker CN15 attached saying ' Not admitted to Canada & No sender name in Arabic Numerals and/or Roman letters'....What on earth is all that about???? I put a senders address (but no senders name) but even if I had put my name it wouldn't have been in Arabic Numerals or Roman letters!! Incidentally I also sent a parcel to another person in Canada around the same time using exactly the same format & that one has arrived. Anyone else had this problem..... & who pays for the postage to send it again??

I went to the Passport office today, and they said I need to put down my employment/studies the last two years. Ok, so I put three things for 2005.. one for 2007. Here is where I am stuck: I went to school last year called Canadian College, but they closed down. so technically it doesn't exist anymore. I was unemployed last year because of school, etc. So, I'm wondering..can I still put that? I'm thinking what if they tried calling them.. the number is not available anymore. I have nothing else to put for 2006. There is no number that I can call to ask this type of question. I'm hoping any one of you has experienced something similiar.

Is this going to be a problem? Should I just let them know?

Tim Horton's is going to hike its prices up, and I think that Canadians should muster the old French/English/whatever fighting spirit and join me in protesting. What sort of 5th of July is this, when essentials like coffee and do-nuts are being priced up? What action shall we take, fellow coffee-lovers?

I live in Canada and I am thinking of moving to USA, is it a good place to live, because I heard that Americans don't have health cards like Canadians do, and when Americans want to visit the doctor they have to pay cash($250 - $450). That's what I heard people saying. I am not so sure if it's true or not.
Does anyone know???
Thank You!!!!!
