We use Canadian dollars not euros in Canada.

If your boyfriend intends to move, he can deposit his money in the bank when he opens a US account and the bank will convert his Canadian money to US dollars for him.

If he doesn't plan to move his funds to the US, he can use his bank machine card to withdraw money from his checking account. If he makes the withdrawal in the US, he will get US dollars from the machine, converted from Canadian at a very good rate.

Hope that helps!
