I don't mind Americans at all, and no i don't think that you all live on ranches. as we all don't live in igloos and get around on dog sleds
One of the saddest days in my life was 9/11 and i stood behind you all 110% even though our government pussied out.
Any way Good day EH!

I have been to Texas and I was looked at funny. Some were really nice others were not. Not eveyone is hickish as you say but you must admit there are alot of ranches in your part of America! I remember stopping in a small town with horses "parked" out front! Canadians don't hate Americans we just hate always being compared to it.
Some people think certain parts of Canada ( the people) are crooked. I really don't like generalizations some Americans have about Canadians.
Canadians are usually nice of course there are exceptions.
Have fun in Victoria.

You get all types. And it is easy to go on the net and troll, with all your comments being anonymous and faceless. I would quickly deduce on here that Democrats and Republicans hate each other sufficiently that 2 could never be Friends. (Other than Rosie and Elisabeth. Oh, wait a minute? lol) And that Christians and Atheists are just as much trolling on here. Truth is, at times as a Canadian you get a lot of ignorant comments and it is easier to go on the attack.
Canada gets 14 Million American visitors a year. The largest of any country visiting. First off, 14 Million Americans can't be wrong, you will love the place. Second off, yeah, we are use to Americans , and I find meeting one face to face as a person is a lot more satisfying than watching your politics on the news. But I can't over generalize. I find it doesn't matter where you go, some people will always talk bad about tourists.
Victoria has a large Tourism Industry, and is mostly American reliant. So you should see a lot of smiling faces, and more than glares. You may find that as part of the Canadian culture anyway, more polite and friendly. It is going to be a tough year for Tourism. The Canadian dollar is approaching par and gas prices are high and higher security rules, so lots of indicators that American visits should be down this year. Thus all the more reason to appreciate the ones that come.
Texans? I think the first thoughts are along the lines that you are all rich. :)

No Canadians don't hate Americans any more then Americans hate Canadians. There will always be idiots who vent stupid things on the net but you have to remember that it's only a small portion of the millions of people that live in both countries.
We spent two weeks in Texas at Christmas (Houston and San Antonio) and had a wonderful time. We stayed with friends just outside of Houston and traveled from there.
They come up here once every couple of years and have a great time, in fact their son wants to move up here the minute he turns 18. :)
I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time on your trip.

I'm American living in Canada, I voted for ALL the Bush's every time. I'm southern also so leave the trash talk at Texas A&M, "GO HORNS". Canadians as a whole don't hate Americans.

i don't think i've ever met any canadian that truly hated americans. there are jokes, but they are done in jest, much like the ones done between neighbouring communities and provinces. (the politics of the states are a whole different issue)
People are on the whole friendly, especially if they know you are a visitor. smile and people will smile back. Enjoy your visit!

I am Canadian, but have lived in the US for most of my life. So obviously I don't hate America, or Canada. We are each the least of each other's worries.
