If there is a single female tourist in China who doesn't speak Chinese except the basic greetings, what difficulties would she encounter? Is it safe for a female to travel alone? Are Asian tourists treated differently from Westerners? Please elaborate. Thank you!

I will be in Singapore for a few days in late October and want to buy a laptop there. Anyone know where I can find a small, lightweight laptop at a decent price? I'm looking for a 12" screen or less, and weighing less than 5 pounds (2.25 kg). I was thinking of the Averatec 2300 but am open to other options, hopefully costing less than $1200. Thanks for your help!

The varicose veins in my legs are bothering me. To hide these unsightly leg veins, I always wear classy and posh long pants and pricey closed shoes. I am really embarrassed by them. I am afraid my condition will worsen someday. Is it because I often carry a 6 figures dough, eating out, being cool, driving a luxury sports car, watching sports on my 42" TV and vacationing in Europe? I really need your help.

The Philippines is having the hardest time finding solution to every problems she had over the last 27 years after Edsa revolution, I for one have thought that our forefathers made a mistake asking for independence from the United States then, for sure no Filipinos would ever work in any country as domestic helpers or laborers because we are part of the US territory, some will say we have to revolt and ask for independence from the US because of the abuses they made, but are we not being abused by our own people? Are we not working as slaves in other countries just to earn dollars? I donot know who coined the words that "it is better that the Philippines is run like hell by the Filipinos rather than run like heaven by the Americans" I think the prediction came true. (note) if you are not a Filipino, don't answer this, just a suggestion

* Motherhood ~ If it was going to be easy, it never would have started with something called labor!

* Shouting to make your children obey is like using the horn to steer your car, and you get about the same results.

* To be in your children's memories tomorrow, you have to be in their lives today.

* The smartest advice on raising children is to enjoy them while they are still on your side.

* The best way to keep kids at home is to make the home a pleasant atmosphere and to let the air out of the tires.

* The right temperature in a home is maintained by warm hearts, not by hot heads.

* Raising a teenager is like nailing Jell-O to a tree.

* Parents: People who bare infants, bore teenagers, and board newlyweds.

* The joy of motherhood: the time when all the children are finally in bed.

* Life's golden age is when the kids are too old to need baby-sitters and too young to borrow the family car.

I'm interested in volunteering in orphanages in China next summer. Does anyone know any foundations or organizations that set groups up for volunteer work in China, specifically in orphanages? I know about Our Chinese Daughter's Foundation; is there anything else out there? I'm looking for something that would last about a month and something that a teenager would be able to do. Thanks!

OK, im 18 but 19 next year and I'm planning before university to go traveling (once again) with my mate.

I love Chinese culture so a trip to china seemed perfect... looking through brochures and various websites I found that a tour would be the best to take it all in rather than being stuck in one place.
HOWEVER big problemo is that tours = middle aged persons and pensioners and the last thing i want is to be ferried around in a convoy of tourists; I want to explore china myself!

Does anyone know of any good UK (or foreign) tour operators that can give you this freedom but at a reasonable price. We are looking at traveling from the major cities such as HK, Beijing, Xian, Shanghai, etc and include the Yangtze river cruise. We do have a budget of about £2k

Thanks in advance.

I'm back........so it's party time for all YAPPERS. Your choice: El Nido or Amanpulo? These are two of the finest beach resorts in Palawan.

Opps....Nena doesn't have enough funds. Let's go to Pagudpud (PAH GOOD POOD) instead. It's a coastal resort town in Ilocos Norte. Here's the official DOT website.
