I will be in Singapore for a few days in late October and want to buy a laptop there. Anyone know where I can find a small, lightweight laptop at a decent price? I'm looking for a 12" screen or less, and weighing less than 5 pounds (2.25 kg). I was thinking of the Averatec 2300 but am open to other options, hopefully costing less than $1200. Thanks for your help!

BTW I meant 1200 in USD.
I don't know about in Singapore, but in Europe ultraportables are not often stocked in stores as there is not enough demand. So, I was hoping for something more detailed than "any electronics store!"

Fu Nan Center is Five levels of computer shops. You should have no problem finding what you want. You can also take time to browse the shops in Duty Free on your arrival. There's a guarantee that if you find it cheaper in town they will refund the difference.

Avoid shops that will want to negotiate a price unless you know how much you should pay. Also make sure you are getting an international warranty.

Good Luck
