We're flying to Europe from the West Coast. It's a 14 hour trip. Is it worth an extra $200 to fly on Air Canada? Is Continental atrocious?

How much do airlines usually charge to cancel? The flight is not until September. Is that enough time to get a refund?

They always say its random, but after about 13 consecutive searches, I am starting to wonder. Once, I didn't get searched and I was very happy. Now I am dreading going to the airport. They always delay me and never hold the plane if the search takes a long time. Seriously, I am a math professor. I always am pleasant to the employees and they just don't seem to care. I also think its odd that my checked baggage has never been searched.

I'm 17 years old and travelling by air to Ohio on Sunday by myself. I've never done this before and am extremely nervous because I'm not sure about how to check in, change flights, get my baggage, etc. It sounds extremely pathetic, I know, but I am very scared that I'll mess up or miss my flight. Can anyone give me details as to how to do these things?

I will be traveling from New York to London on British Airways in the next three week. I would like to know about there in flight service, what type of meals and beverages do they serve. Since it will be a 6-7 hour flight I was wondering if I should buy extra food from the airport. Your comments and any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Since 9/11 I'm starting to notice flights from LAX to Bos, JFK, HNL and ORD are on Airbus 320s, Boeing 737s or if your lucky a boeing 757. For many year you never saw a Airbus 320 or a Boeing 737 unless you went from LAX to LAS or LAX to SFO. Aren't widebodies safer for longer flights? Why are airlines using smaller and smaller planes? Does anybody think that this will change when the new Boeing 787 comes out?

I will be traveling this summer, both Domestic and International. I hear loads of people complaining about the security measures and what you can/can't take on a plane.
Truthfully, I haven't been on a plane in at least 3 or 4 years. What advice would you give me?
Is it safe to put my medicines into my checked bag so I don't have to worry about security taking it from my carry-on?
One of my trips includes a layover. What are the chances that my bags will be lost?

I have been on atleast 30 airplanes in the past 3 years and everyone of them has said it was okay for my father to wait with me at my terminal because i was only 15. Now, i'm taking Alaska airlines, and they are saying that he cannot wait with me unless he pays an extra $100. WHy is this? Does anyone have any experiences like this they can share that would maybe help me out a bit? Thanks!

I was just on an airplane from Amman, Jordan to Baghdad, Iraq. Every other person had their cell phone on for the entire flight. Granted they were not talking on the phone, but the phone was on and they were using various functions. The flight attendants were not alarmed and did not take any action like they would have on a U.S. flight.
