why do they call the box in the airplane with the flight information the Black box when it isn't black at all?

At one time all electronic items in an airplane were in black boxes, and the original flight recorders probably were also.

The reason for the bright colors they are now colored is to make them easier to find after a crash.

it do not depend on the color of the box why they call that box a BLACK BOX, maybe it has a connection that put in the box? i'm not sure of it
