I am flying in about a week and a half and know that I usually get sick to the stomach in airplanes. Is there anything I can do to prevent sickness while aboard a plane? Thanks in advance.

You're talking about motion sickness, aren't you? They do have medicinal patches placed behind the ear available that have proven effectiveness for many people. Dramamine can help, but will cause drowsiness, which for some people is a good thing, also ginger is supposed to have a positve effect for motion sickness, you can buy it in candied form. Otherwise, it has been proven that when are visually able to see what is causing the motion that is making you sick, it can help to alleviate the symptoms, getting a window seat can really help some people. Airborne is basically a vitamin supplement that according to it's claims was invented by a grade school teacher to prevent the common cold and flu, doctors and scientists have been trying for centuries to come up with the cure, and now a grade school teacher comes up with this scientific breakthrough? Studies have shown that it's nothing but a well marketed "snake oil," that although not harmful, does nothing as far as what it claims. I was nearly fired as a new Flight Attendant for air sickness. Obviously, I had to sort something out fast or lose my job!

It was so stupid that I was kicking myself. I simply wasn't eating enough. I was suffering needlessly! It was a long trip to the airport and I was flying on an empty stomach having not eaten in hours. Drinking enough helped too. If I couldn't manage to eat, I drank some orange juice.

Motion sickness is a family curse (my kids are volcanos!) but I know now what I need to do.

If things get rough, get back to your seat, face forward and breathe (easier said than done sometimes!) Stay seated on landing and be especially careful of being put in a "holding pattern" (when the plane goes round and round because they can't land for some reason). Prime time for air sickness!

Try not to "change levels" in rough air. I can't do this in the car. If you hit a rough patch, put down your reading. Don't lean over and dig though your carry on bag. Sit quietly, face forward and BREATHE.

Drink, eat, carry snacks. Dried fruit and a water bottle might be enough. Don't fly hungry! I only had to eat a tiny bit to avoid getting sick so you probably don't need to stuff yourself.

Sitting by the window might help too. Seeing the ground, when you can, could help orientate your inner ear.

Look into products if you want. Bands never helped me but it wouldn't hurt to try them. Other non-medical remedies might do the trick too.

For drugs, see your doctor. Dramamine can make you sleepy. There might be better things out there. Consult a professional and try it at home first! Don't get a nasty reaction or uncomfortable side effects in the air.

Try to eat right and relax. Artificial "immune boosters" like airborne aren't reliable. But a strong immune system should help you ward off any diseases or, at the very least, minimize their symptoms.

Stress makes your body more vulnerable to viruses and bacteria, as does an unhealthy, unbalanced diet.

Best of luck!

Start taking "Airborne" (you can get it at any drug store) 4 days before your travel date and bulk up on veggies and don't forget to get a little extra exercise.

you probably get sick becuase you are nervous. So maybe you should just try to calm yourself down.. listen to music or something.

if its not your nerves then you should probably take like a motion sickness pill.
