Hi all. I'm tired of everyone making fun of my town's name, F*cking, in Austria. (an u goes where the asterisk is). This is a beautiful small town, and I'm very proud I was raised there. I now live in the U.S. but visit every few years, and my fellow F*ckers complain the all the english speaking tourists steal all of the town's name signs. That is just crazy. I end up explaining to them that americans dont do that, just brits, and the other commonwealth people. but they dont belive me.

My girlfriend has been in Monaghan Ireland for the past 2 months, and will be there 8 more months. I called her today, and she told me that she had made out with "a few" guys, and that it was something that was just common for teenagers to do over there in a night, and that everyone does it over there. I was just curious if she is feeding me a line, or if Irish culture and teen culture in Ireland is accepting of that, or what.

This is just from my own point of view, but from what I think, Canadians don't know where to pattern their culture, from their southern (and very influential) neighbor (U.S.A.) or from their mother country (U.K./Great Britain). Let's leave the Quebecers out of the picture here since they obviously strived hard to keep the culture of the French ancestors.

Do you think the same way? I don't mean to generalize here, but this is just what I think.

I live in Los Angeles. Needless to say, things are not good right now. I'm in the middle of finishing up a Single Subject teaching credential, and my experiences in LAUSD are leaving me feeling pretty pessimistic. Although I was born and raised in the south bay, I feel it's time to move. Things just suck here. I would really like to stay in CA b/c I love the beach, but I don't know where would be a good place to go. The desert is out of the question, and I don't want more than 4 months of ice, so where can I go that is somewhat less expensive, allows me some warm months, and will make me feel safe and comfortable in my work environment (in a school)? Anything will help. Thanks.
