The school is based upon the location of your home or apartment. If you want to check schools in San Antonio try www.greatschools.com

The midddle schools in the South San Antonio ISD are
Abraham Kazen
Alan B. Shepard*
Dwight
Robert C. Zamora*

Please note that in San Antonio we have several school districts and have several that perform very well academically. Unfortunately South San Antonio ISD is currently not one of the better performing school districts. The TEA (Texas Education Agency) which rates schools in Texas rates them as Exemplary, Recognized, Academically Acceptable or Academically Unacceptable. Two of the SSISD middle schools are currently rated as academically unacceptable.

Another organization called www.greatschools.com rates schools against each other. They are rated on a scale of one to ten. Only Zamora MS was rated above 2 on that scale. That may be because there was incomplete data for analysis from Zamora.

In the Southside ISD there are 2 middle schools:
Southside MS*
Lasoya MS+

Also in the southern part of the San Antonio Area is the Somerset ISD which has Somerset Junior High School which is considered academically acceptable. Somerset Charter Schools runs Brooks Academy of Science and Engineering, it is again a charter school and not on the public school lists but is also rated as academically acceptable and rates a 5 out of 10 on the greatschools scale.

* these schools are felt to be academically acceptable by the Texas Education Agency.
+ this school is too new to be rated.
Before you decide on a house, please check on houses or apartments in areas with the best schools you can manage for your children. The best school districts in San Antonio are traditionally and by testing Northside ISD(which has schools pretty far south on the west side of San Antonio) or North East ISD.
