I intend to travel to India but I would like to know whether I need a passport or visa to travel. How long does it take to get one and where do I get it from? I am from the U.S. and I am coming back, it's only for maybe a month or two that I want to stay in India. I do not have any relatives but I would like to know the country & it's people. I have no idea where I'm going to stay meanwhile or what to do there. I hope to visit historic sites but I need to do some research. If anybody has any advise please feel free to give. Where is the cheapest place to stay & eat. I have a really low budget, maybe about a thousand dollars to work with for a whole month. Is that more than enough? I kind of plan to backpack it through India & maybe some local places. Do they frown on backpackers? Can I get by on english & spanish or do I have to learn the dialect? I am completely clueless but really wish to visit this beautiful place. Thanks in advance.

I have noticed that in Pfungstadt there is NO radar controll at all, none of those green boxes, or any other devices that could slow vehicles down. Naturally without any kind of controlls, cars, trucks, buses, whatever fly thru the town ignoring the 30 or 50 kph speed limit. Anybody know why this is allowed? Besides the danger of speeding it makes for a loud town, for example Bergstrasse sounds like the Autobahn. I was just wondering if anybody could explain why Pfungstadt tolerates this?

Yes, I know it is a fruit, but the point I find interesting is that though they do not use the term negatively, in a culture that values being polite - it is actually kind of rude and thai will admit that too if confronted...And no, it really is no big deal nor does it bother me much.. It is simply one of many contradictions here.. it is rude to be talking about someone behind their back thinking they will not understand - yes, I speak Thai and for those who do not - a friend on line at 7-11 heard a woman tell her son, if you don't stop crying the farang will hit you.. to which he turned and told the boy, this is not true. I will not hit you.. So, if the people are talking abt the fruit in the mkt - why do I almost never hear them saying "sapporot, sapporot, sapporot" behind my back? Thanks for all prior response and let me know of any other contradictions that you find?

We are going on a cruise leaving March 4 ,2007. We went to Chankanaab Park before the hurricane and LOVED it. We probably will not do the Dolphin swim. Is the rest of the park up and running and is it worthwhile going? It was so beautiful before the hurricane. I'm hoping they were able to rebuild.

Hi all,
Both husband and i are trained nurses. Husband is in RAF but retires when he's 49. Once he's out the RAf at 49 we want to migrate to Australia and work as nurses there.
Will we be considered too old? We will have our own property here that we would sell so would have a good sum of money to take with us to buy property.
