No. Northern Ireland is part of the UK. However, no passport is required either for travel between Eire and the UK for Irish and UK citizens.

Well, I'm not too sure. Now Northern Ireland is very much in the UK, and thus shouldn't necesitate a passport per se, but what with the terrorist climate in airports ect. I have a feeling that they actually ask to see it never the less (or some form of ID at least). Possibly the same when sailing to Stranraer ect.

as I live in Northern Ireland I can assure you ,you do not need a passport to travel either Northern or Southern Ireland
