What do I have to do to get a visa from the greek embassy , which season will it be its best and how do ı travel there by plane to athens or directly by ship from İzmir.

Santorini is one of the most beautiful Greek islands!
as all the other islands, the best season to visit is summer time June - end of August.
we say that santorini is the island where the 90% of visitors are young or older couples cause it offers a spectacular romantic view and unique travel experiences
below there is a link about santorini (accommodation, how to go, info about prices etc) i hope it ll help you. You can also find there info about the ferries schedule to and from Piraeus (the biggest Greek port in Athens).
Regarding Izmir, it is better to ask to Izmir port to give you more information if there is a direct sea line to the island, but I don't think so. Or you can go to Chios and ask there how to get to Santorini (it is possible there is a direct way to go)
Finally as for visa, I think you can get one from Turkish police -
I am sure that if you decide to go santorini, you and your family will have a great time!

I don't know if there are ships directly from Turkey. You can fly to Athens, stay in Athens for 1-2 days to see the monuments too, and then either fly to Santorini or take one of the fast ferries (I don't know if there are fast ferries in the winter though). A good time to visit Santorini is in the springtime, but also in the summer, preferably early summer, so that you can also swim but it is not too crowded.

I think all you need is a valid passport. And to get to Santorini, take the boat from Pireus. Then you'll have a chance to see a few more islands on the way. Early summer is better I think because July and August there are too many tourists.
