Travel - 29 January 2007

Last year, my mom and I where flying home from Raleigh, NC after visiting our relatives, and we were one of the last flights to leave because all the other flights had just been delayed because of a bad storm. When we took off, and got into the clouds the plane had really bad turbulence and it was shaking alot and everyone went quiet.

It was one of those smaller regional jet planes because it was just a 1 hour flight from Raleigh to Toronto, ONT. I have heard that turbulence when a plane takes off is dangerous, is that true? Could it have crashed? It was a bad storm and even caused a tornado that day.

"safest way to travel!" ... "more chance of getting hit by a bus" .... "listen to some music, read a book" ..... "watch a film" .... "nothing to be scared of..." blah-de-blah-de-blah! all the things everyone says to you, but doesn't help the mind in any way.

I am petrified and i mean petrified of flying!..... its stopping us from going away (even though i used to like flying) but as I have got older... I hate it.. I am so scared.. i have nightmares of getting on to another plane.

has anyone ever doen anything that has helped them get over their fears?

I want to take my hubby to New york in 3 years... ekkkkkkkkk

Quick Question...
I'm flying into LGB on Sunday morning... then I gotta get
to a hotel near LAX, so we can fly out to Hawaii the next morning.
Anyone know what the easiest/cheapest way to get from LGB to LAX? I don't really want to rent a car just to make the 30 mile trek... but I also know that it might be just as much as a taxi ride. And I don't know if there are different "rules" on Sunday (if all the regular public transportation still runs). And public transportation takes HOURS.

Im wondering wether I should go and see my mother and family in SA (south africa) this year or not. I know some maybe be thinking Im mad not to go but its hard when its a 13 hour flight with two boys aged 1 and 6 and still having to take the hubby with as he asts like a child when we are on the plane as he is so excited. Plus its like a whole day/night on the plane, plus the traveling to the airport. all in all it will take from my door step to my mothers door step 20 hours. I just dont think its really fare on my younger one. But then again I really want to see my family, its so hard. Please help me!!!!!!!
