(1) How long is the part of the trail that is very narrow and also alongside a steep cliff? If it is very dangerous, will bringing rope help?

(2) I've read that parking at the trailhead is not recommended due to break ins. Any suggestions on where we can safely park if were are away camping for 2 nights?

(3) Since leaving things in the car would be a bad idea, is there any where to store things nearby that we don't want to take with us onto the trail?

Here is my situation:
1. I can fly from Moline Quad City Intl Airport (MLI) or from Chicago, IL, - O'Hare (ORD)
2. My travel companion can fly from New York ISP (Islip, Long Island) or from LGA (LaGuardia) in the city.
3. We can fly Fri evening 08-04 through Tues evening 08-08, but we both prefer to fly Fri evening 08-11 through Tues evening 08-15
4.We are trying to find a destination city to fly to so we can spend some time together and will need one hotel room and probably a rental car or be able to walk or use city transit.
5. We have spent hours and days and weeks searching sites and are frustrated. How can we coordintate this to find flights for under $300 round trip a piece?
6. One of us prefers not to go anywhere hot. We both like the idea of Canada. We both want to get away from Chicago and New York.

ANY tips or pointers????? Is complicated, escpecially since we don't know where we want to meet at. Any help is appreciated . . .no 'smart remarks' please. THX!!!

I just got back from a Carnival cruise with my wife and 2-yr-old son. We had a great time and Carnival was very accomodating with activities until 10pm for kids over 2 and babysitting for kids under 11 after 10pm. We usually had our son with us during the day and brought him to the activity/babysitting center around 9pm.

We have another child on the way and I am wondering what peoples' experience has been on other cruise lines bringing children under 2? If we brought a child under 2 on Carnival, we could have only used the babysitting after 10pm, which is a little late to bring them since they would probably already be asleep. Do any other lines offer the babysitting service starting earlier than 10pm?
