I just got back from a Carnival cruise with my wife and 2-yr-old son. We had a great time and Carnival was very accomodating with activities until 10pm for kids over 2 and babysitting for kids under 11 after 10pm. We usually had our son with us during the day and brought him to the activity/babysitting center around 9pm.

We have another child on the way and I am wondering what peoples' experience has been on other cruise lines bringing children under 2? If we brought a child under 2 on Carnival, we could have only used the babysitting after 10pm, which is a little late to bring them since they would probably already be asleep. Do any other lines offer the babysitting service starting earlier than 10pm?

taking a child under the age of 5, is really not recommended unless it is Disney. They are to young to remember it, so why not you and your husband take a well deserved trip for the TWO of you on a cruise and experience it that way.
Holland america cruise line is for people who go to bed at 9 and wake up at 4...
Carnival is more of a "funship' atmosphere where Royal Caribbean caters to you and has wonderful food and service.
Disney cruises are 25-35 percent higher than other cruises.
Taking a child on a cruise is more stressful than being on a vacation...

We took Holland America to the Mexican Riviera when our daughter was 6 months old. It was a great vacation. They offered their front desk staff for babysitting everynight for $8 per hour. We were worried at first, even setting up a hidden camera to make sure everything was ok, but it all turned out fine. I highly recommend cruise travel for people needing to take their infants with them.

most cruise lines have nothing set up for the under 2 set, and babysitting runs expensive, as I am sure you have already discovered. So, either leave the kids behind, OR bring somebody along, set them up in an inside stateroom and have them babysit for you.

How about taking a niece along to babysit the kids in the evening? What a babysitting perk THAT would be!!

Please, look into Disney. I went on a cruise and had it ruined because of all the small children running around. Do Disney cruises.

Ooh!Ooh !Ooh!( cough )

Dear son, its a tender age to follow your parents. For only two years old child it's harmfull to do so. So, i suggest you taxman, or whatever it may be.
