Camping

[Selected]: All categories Sports Outdoor Recreation Camping

There's such a vast difference between what RV/Trailer camping people ask and what Backpackers and Tent Camping people ask, I think Yahoo should make two, even three categories. (I'd have backpacking a seperate category as well.) If Curling has it's own category in Winter Sports (and I can't think that more people hurl stones on ice than either RV or tent camp), then I think there should be some seperation among the various kinds of camping.

Who else agrees?

I'm going on a Leadership Indoor Camping Trip with my school next week, and they didn't give us a list of things to bring. I know that it is classified as "Indoor camping" because we will be staying in bunks and there are indoor bathrooms. What do you bring when you go camping with school?

I'm heading to the military soon and before I go I want to basically go on a survival camping trip for a couple weeks.

I'm an experienced camper and hunter but I've always been with someone else. Basically I want to find a place well off the beaten path(No national parks!), extremely remote where I won't run into anyone else or very rarely will I run into someone else.

Anyone know some good spots? Also note this will most likely be a winter camping trip.

Can someone help me find some camping clothes, I really like the camping shirt and Down vest from the Commercial near the Bottom of this list http://www.jeep.com/en/2007/patriot/gallery/
If you watch it, you will know what I mean, but I hope that you can find me but a shirt and vest similar or indenticle to them both, thank you.

I would like to go camping this spring, but instead of a lodge or cabin, use a tent. I live near Pensacola, FL and don't really want to travel more than 300 miles. Thanks!

We're going on a camping trip and we need to think of something really weird to have for dinner. We'll have access to a camp stove and we won't have to carry food far so weight doesn't matter.

We just want something really weird or a weird combo to have. Any suggestions?

I'm looking for a wooded campsite anywhere in New England with no hookups that's secluded and NOT family oriented. Max. 4 people, fire pit a must, and open until at least the end of November. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Has anyone tried Mountain House freeze dried food, both the sweet things like the freeze dried ice cream and the savory entree-type things? How is it? How does it compare to Backpacker's Pantry freeze dried food?

1. theyre a huge waste or resources. oil is only expected to be plentiful enough to be widely used as an energy source for another 50-75 years. Yet people feel they have the right to drive those huge things that probably get 5 miles a gallon across the country. thanks for leaving some resources for others after you, *** holes

2. Recreational vehicles are a hazard on the road. Half the people cant drive them, theyre always crossing over their lines, and a lot of them drive 10 under the speed limit.

3. I recently came back from Colorado where all the RV folk think theyre on an "adventure." you should have that attitude unless you actually went back packing through the mountains or something. wow, youre the next louis and clark. you sit in your glorified trailer at the base of a mountain with the AC cranked watching TV on a premium satelite package eating cupcakes. thats not being an adventurer, its being a lame self-indulgent pansy.

anyway, thats my rant. who else feels the same

I'm in school in Amherst, MA, and my friends and I really want to go camping sometime in October, but we don't know where to go. We're interested in campsites that are relatively cheap, but nice, that will allow ~six 18 year olds to camp. Preferably less than an hours drive away from Pioneer valley. Thanks in advance!

I've been wanting to go camping for some time now in the Upper west side of the U.S. like Montana/Oregon. But I don't want to stay in an RV parks or Cabin lots. I want to actually camp, not fake-camp. Ya know? I'm looking for an area that has fishing, nice scenery, boating, maybe waterfalls. That sort of thing.

Anybody know anything? Can you help? I looked on Google and found a Camping website but again it's only the RV Parks and such. No real camping.

Kind of want it secluded with no one around.

...not a drive to the campsite and set-up camp thing. A leave the vehicle, and go out on foot for week thing. Not alone. With at least one friend along...

I know a good backpack, good shoes, and clothes appropriate to the season, so leave those out, please. We all know that.

What are the top three things (not a pack, shoes, or seasonal clothes) you think of to make sure you bring?

I am looking for a used trailor 20-30' long that would suit one person and a dog. Would you recommend going to an RV store or out of someone's yard? I've kind of been looking all summer but I can't find one I like (I have no use for a bed AND bunk beds ets.) in my price range (up to $8,000). Also, is planning on living in this thing for a while feasible? I don't know what climate I'll be in yet. Finally, would a 1993 Ford Explorer be able to pull it? Any tips are appreciated.

Do you know or have any high quality backpacks that are made out of canvas or other tuff fabric that i have overlooked
(i would prefer to have a frame and the backpack should be really big)
