I'm looking for a wooded campsite anywhere in New England with no hookups that's secluded and NOT family oriented. Max. 4 people, fire pit a must, and open until at least the end of November. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thank you!

your best choices are vermont , new hampshire or maine... in new hampshire, the famous highway in the white mountain national forest is the Kancamangus Highway-it is pretty much dotted with national forest service campgrounds(they're called campgrounds but they are very primitive-spacious wooded site with no neighbors around---not tennis courts, or swimming pools or any of that crap)---the area is covered with hiking trails right near the campsites with the highest peaks of NH(mt washington, presdiential range, etc) readily accessible.. i've brought many people there and no one has been dissapointed--in fact they cant wait to get back....try searching white mountain national forest online for more specifics

So you want to light a fire and make a lot of noise late at night - and as you are under 18 anyone who allows you to do this on their property could find themselves in trouble if any of you came to harm (since in the eyes of the law they are in charge of you, having taken you in). Read back through that sentence and you can see for yourself why campsite owners would not welcome you. A group of adults doing this would be bad enough - but then add in the issue of the site owner being held responsible for you .... There are camping sites where you can make a fire. But they are usually aimed at 'serious' campers, who know how to make fires properly and safely, and these people tend to go to bed early and get up early. They might take in 16 yr olds who they trusted to do the same, especially if someone they knew (like a regular customer) vouched for them - but realistically most would not want your group partying on their premises. Unless you can find someone who owns a piece of land and will let you camp there, you must decide whether you want to go camping or to hold a party. You probably cannot do both together.

Lafayette state park in Franconia Notch or any White Mountain National Forest campground are good places. Just pick a campsite not near anyone.

That's a list of "Dispersed" Camping areas in the Green Mountian National Forest in VT. These are all fairly secluded. They are open all year but those accessable by Forest Service roads may only be auto accessable only until the gates get closed. You can still camp in them, but you'll have to hoof it in.

That is the list of other USFS campsites in the GMNF. User fees might apply, but these are usually open later and some of them might not be collecting fees after October.
