I'm heading to the military soon and before I go I want to basically go on a survival camping trip for a couple weeks.

I'm an experienced camper and hunter but I've always been with someone else. Basically I want to find a place well off the beaten path(No national parks!), extremely remote where I won't run into anyone else or very rarely will I run into someone else.

Anyone know some good spots? Also note this will most likely be a winter camping trip.

I'm not sure if you want THIS remote, but I go to a great spot in NW Ontario. Its just east of Lake Nipagon, near Jellicoe. I'm assuming you'll want a base to leave a car, ETC. and this place is perfect. There is a lodge called Onaman River Resort that's about 30 miles off the road, and you'd be able to leave from there. From there you need to get up a river about 15 miles, portage around an impassible rapids and you'll end up at the start of MY lake. I must warn you though, there is NO supply or support source anywhere around. If you really are interested, e-mail me and I can give you details. I even have a boat, (no motor) stashed on the lake, assuming it hasn't frozen. As long as you have other food, you WILL be able to get plenty of fish, more than you could possibly need. GUARANTEED. I warn you though, it gets very cold, and is an unforgiving place, if you screw up. You could not ever be found, if you get in trouble. But, I love it there.

Since you are experianced and want remote.....
Get to Quetico provincial Park!!!!!!
Abuts the MN Boundary Waters Canoe Area

You will have solitude, especially in the winter. Great fishing, snow shoeing etc. Wildlife galore, wolves, bear (hibernating), moose.......

I have done solo trips to the south of there with similar environment and with the amount of water woods there it is easy to find space for solitude.

unless you are experianced with serious winter camping, winter camping there might be a bit risky. Standard shelter, a quinzy snow hut, if you don't like tents!

If you're going in the winter, even a national park will be relatively deserted. A couple years ago I walked all the way around Yosemite Valley one January morning and didn't see more than a couple of folks.

Me and my family wen't to Awenda,

Let me tell you,

It was AMAZING! I seen about 7 wild deer and a baby! Now that it's fall bald eagles will be going there, There's also an unknown breed of mixed wolves, I seen deer bones, but you don't have to be scared of them as there not seen, moose will also be traveling threw there at this season. It's way into the countrey and you can't hear any traffic, it's a beautiful place and there's so many trails that I did not even get to go on. There's also an island there where it looks like a giant fell asleep.

Trust me it's a great place! malls not too far from it either.

Algonquin Park is so large you won't be disturbed.
But you should always make sure someone else knows.
That's just good safety measures for yourself & others.
