can you really get stuck inside a sleeping bag? I was told that there are sleeping bags that zip in the front not the side and that you cant zip them up from inside the bag you need someone else to do it for you is that true?

I usually go with oatmeal, ramen, and trail mix as my staples, but I am doing a 7 day backpacking trip with my friends, and I can't live off of that stuff for that long.

What are some of your favorite (lightweight) backpacking foods?

You can give in detail if you want. I don't mind cause camping is a heck of a bug zone to me1

As i write this my car is completely packed and ready to go camping with my boyfriend and it just started pouring like a hurricane outside! Its about 6:30pm now and we were leaving at 9 pm for the weekend.

Can anyone think of an alternative plan? I wanna take this crappy situation and surprise him with someone fun!

We spent all our money on food and stuff for camping so it cant be totally different plans...

Thanks! And pray for the rain to stop for me!

Kinda dumb question LoL.. but me and the boyfriend are going camping this weekend... this particular campgrounds has a river for canoeing and a spring... but im afraid were going to get bored doing just those two things!

Other plans include alot of drinkiing :-P , Im bringing a deck of cards.. and also were cooking alot of yummy foods.

We are canoeing to our campsites over 2-3 days. How can i keep food like meat cold without ice? Any suggestions would help...We are only going with 4 people. Any suggestions of some food to last us a few days? We are going to be roughing it and would like to bring as little as possible, but also have enough good eats!

I say it's unsightly and should not be done. My friends think it's biodegradable so it's ok. What are your thoughts and what do you do?.

I'm planning a trip from Nova Scotia to Alberta next spring and need to learn the rules north of the border. Is dispersed camping allowed up there and if so where? Down here in the states it's usually only allowed in BLM or Forest Service land. I also heard it is illegal to pick up dead fallen wood off the ground to use for a campfire. Is this really true? I have more questions to come but am mostly interested in what I'm allowed or not allowed to do up there.

I have a tent, air mattress, sleeping bag, a lantern and some bug spray for each of us (myself and my son). What would you recommend I add? I am thinking cooking gear, something simple. We probably won't be camping more than 2-3 days at a time, usually for weekend events like a Renaissance Faire, so not too far from a store, but would like to have breakfast handy, at least. Any other recommendations gear wise? Thanks!

Anticipating any rain, I want to be able to shield the rain if possible. The tents are new and waterproof, but haven't used them in rain yet to know for sure and I don't want to use my vacation as the test.

Of those of you who have actually camped in the winter time (or in the snow), how was your experience? Will you do it again?

I am looking for a good inexpensive tent, I cannot afford more than $150 right now. I know that colemans are very popular but I cant find much info on wenzels. The one I really like is a dome shape with a screen room on the front. I olny want it for car camping, I already have a good backpacking tent.

I'm going camping in New Hampshire in a couple of weeks. With the weather cooling down at night lately, what would be appropriate to wear inside of a sleeping bag that will help keep me warm at night, but won't feel constricting or overheating?

I have a Chevy Trailblazer SUV, and I'm thinking about buying a pop-up (folding) camper. We would like to take our bicycles with us when we go camping. I currently use a bike carrier that mounts to my trailer hitch. So - if I connect the camper to my trailer hitch, what's the best way to haul the bicycles? They don't fit in the back of the SUV, and I DON'T want to put them on the roof of the SUV. Does the camper have a trailer hitch in the back?
