Hey,
I'm going wild camping in Scotland in about two weeks and I just wanted to know if anyone could tell me if there's dangerous wildlife I should be aware of that could maybe attack me at night? :)
Thx for the help...

I am a novice hunter and am going to purchase a rifle to hunt hogs and other larger game. I have always heard that a 30.06 is ideally the best choice but I don't know what my other choices would be. Any advice?

I know there is an annual hunt of seals in the north of Canada...but, why? And, aren't the seals normally young, or babies? Is the killing mostly to get the animal's fur, or is there any other benefits to it? For example, food for the native people, or essential oils etc...Is it just a senseless killing spree or is there a method to the madness? I don't really know much about this aside from the brutal way in which the seals are killed. Anyone want to tell me more?

Seriously, I don't need any haters.
You all have your opinions, and I have mine.

But, really - can anyone justify the point of hunting to me?
Yeah you go kill an animal, that's big fun, what else do you get out of it?

I can maybe understand if you are hunting for food, but hunting for sport really confuses me.

Thanks to any serious answerers..

Whats the point of caged Lion hunting? I mean hunting a lion in its natural habitat is one thing there you have to test yourself tracking it stalking it and make sure it doesn't get you and would be an awesome experience. But when you "hunt" one in an enclosed area often baited what the hell is the point?

I am wanting to buy a high powered rifle for myself, and I am not exactly sure what is best. I want to buy a rifle the rifle that has the best distance, and the best accuracy. I was told by a few people 30-06 is what I want. Is this what I want? I don't plan on hunting deer with it, because i live in Ohio, and it is illegal to hunt deer with a rifle, but I will be hunting coyote with it. I am in the spending range of less than $500. So I am hoping that you know what I am looking for. Thank You.

P.S.:
The person with an answer that has great reasons why i should buy a certain rifle will be rewarded with a best answer!
So I would like some reasons or facts with your answer please. Or at least as much as you know.

Thanks,
Matt

So i grew up shooting bb guns, then moved to high powered pellet guns and by the time I graduated high school I had shot quite a few different types of rifles. I started going hunting with friends my freshman year of college, they've always had a spare rifle for me to use, but as we are graduating soon and moving to different parts of the country I thought its about time I went out and purchased my own.

I have for the most part narrowed my choices..slighty. Unfortunately there are soo many reputable gun makers out there its hard to really break down the choices to just a few. My criteria are:
1) Larger bore, .308, 30-06, .300 short magnum...possibly .300 standard magnum, ive never shot it, but one of my friends swears its the best thing ever.
2) Not single loading, bolt action is ok, I just hate having to stick a new round in by hand every time
3) Reliable and Accurate

Choices I have so far are:
m1a, expensive but ive always wanted one
Rem 700 SPS
Something from savage arms

I was thinking about getting a Browning A-Bolt Hunter chambered in 7MM Rem Mag with a Nikon Buckmaster scope and a Harris Bipod. That should be a nice setup right? Should I go to the gunshop and have them order it or buy it online and save a few dollars? This is my first gun but I have been shooting them for a few years. Tell me your thoughts.

I am going to buy one online and was wondering what everyones opinions are of them. Everything....how are the trigger pull...accuracy..etc. I know they were good enough to last so many years, I just want to know your opinion and if you think it is a wise purchase. Thanks.

"The truth is hunters are the ones who preserve the species," he said, since hunters have an interest in preserving wildlife and their license fees pay for conservation efforts. "In many cases extinction comes from not having some level of hunting. It's the hunters who actually keep the wildlife alive. A lot of people think that when you hunt you're destroying the wildlife."

I love using Air Rifles a lot, and especially a powerful air rifle that can attack a purpose from a long distance ..
After comparing many air rifles, i've noticed that the RWS ( german made) air rifle is the most powerful and scrupulous one .
Is it really true ?

I have a 444 marlin I bought back in 1970. I have always used the Remington 240 factory ammo. I recently bought the Hornady 265 grain evolution. Rubber tipped. Has anyone used this ammo and how does it perform. I know what the 240 grain Remington ammo does.
