The H&R Partner Pump Shotguns are made in China, by Hawk Industries Co. Ltd.
They are designed as an additional less expensive alternative to the Remington 870 Express. For comparison purposes they are better designed than the Maverick 88 by Mossberg, but they are clearly NOT a Remington 870 Express..just a "clone"..
The ones I've seen so far appear to be well made from a manufacturing standpoint, but I have yet to shoot one personally. I will say that as a Dealer, I think they will give the Maverick 88 a "run for the money" and I would prefer the H&R Partner over the Maverick 88 ANY day...I also don't think that it offers any real competition for the Remington 870 Express and it's established reputation.Time will tell how popular it becomes as they are just coming out and available to Dealers in numbers......

It's actually a better gun than the 870 Express. Better finish, far smoother operation, bigger magazine, *HALF the PRICE*.
It's so close a copy that a large percentage of the parts can be made to fit between each other.
It's been reviewed quite a few times. It's never failed to get high praise.
To clarify what someone else mistakenly stated, the gun has *NOTHING* to do with a Mossberg Mav 88. It was *NOT* designed to compete with nor to try to garner market share from Mossberg. It has nothing to do with Mossberg. The gun is a less expensive copy of an 870, better in many ways, in fact, and is meant to compete with that.
As I said, it has been reviewed several times and never received anything but high praise.

These things and their predisesors have been around for over a hundred years. They are built like a vault and shoot straight. I think of them as the perfect starter gun due to them being a single shot with simple controls. I have several H&R's that I use as loners also {shotguns & rifles}. They have never needed repair work yet and we have several in the family well over a hundred years old. You can buy a fancy pump or autoloader later but start with this and you'll never be sorry.

He wasn't asking about the H&R single-shot shotguns, which are every bit as good as you say, but about the new repeating shotguns that H&R has recently introduced. They are offering both pump and semi-automatics.
I don't think H&R actually makes these shotguns, but that they are foreign made and distributed by H&R. FWIW, I'm also interested in hearing about the quality.

I would get a Remington 870 myself not much more money and a lot more function. 870 shotguns have lasted a long time and many in use today can be over 50 years old.

Low end, poor quality. The kind you don't care about if it gets stolen, dropped, scratched etc and when it breaks, it's easier and usually cheaper to go buy another one.
