As a Gunsmith,Dealer and Rifle Team Competitor with 16 years experience, I don't think you can do better than the Remington 700 BDL series Bolt Action Rifles. I currently own (7) and three of them are Custom Long Range Match Rifles built utilizing the Remington 700 action. The factory trigger pulls are fine but now that Remington has redesigned the trigger to be fully adjustable, there is no reason to consider replacing it with another trigger for target shooting or hunting. These rifles are incredibly accurate and if they are matched with quality optic's, you will see how how well they shoot first hand. Remington 700's are slightly more expensive by comparison, but they are worth each penny difference in workmanship,quality and accuracy. The Remington 700 series is the choice of over 96% of Competetion Shooters for "out of the box" accuracy. That is why the Remington 700 series is the #1 Centerfire Rifle with a world wide reputation.You can't go wrong with the Remington 700.....PERIOD

I have more 700's than any other rifle. The first I've had for over forty years, and the last less than a year, with several in between. Out-of-the-box accuracy tends to be good, though you'll run into an occasional "project." Triggers were once great, got terrible, and are redesigned. I can't really speak for the new ones, but they're supposed to be good and easy to adjust.

It’s a fine rifle and I have used mine for decades and they still shoots tight groups. It’s well made, dependable, beautiful, rugged..well I just cant say enough good things about this rifle.
No wonder police find it suitable for S.W.A.T teams.

The 700 BDL stock has a magazine floor plate opening that allows you to upgrade to a detachable magazine such as this;

I have quite a few rifle made by all the big name gun manufactures and all have their good and bad points. But the Rem 700 is hands down one of my favorites. I have shot antelope out to 500 yards with it. Taken Alaskan moose, black bear and brown bear, Montana mule deer, Big horn sheep, mountain goat, white tail deer and hogs with it. Lol I even shot grouse and sage hens heads off with it for camp meat.

The only thing I changed was the beautiful wood stock. I bought a synthetic stock so it would not be affected by moisture and thus throw my aim off. I tried to seal the wood stock so it wouldn’t draw in moisture but I live in a Maritime environment that is wet all the time.

Well that’s my 2 cents on it.

I have an ADL in a 25-06, and a BDL in .222 and .308 and i love all three of them, as far as what they are and what they cost, it is hard to beat them. Plus if you fely the need, there are a ton of aftermarket parts for them too.
