I already know that they are one of the best ever made and most popular but what does everyone else think?

Well I had one that I actually shot out the rifling after 4 decades of shooting. I bought 5 of them for my kids back in the early 80s and all of them still work and still shoot nice groups.
The only issue any of them had was jamming when they weren’t cleaned (ya know kids). Also the feed ramp can wear out after a few decades of heavy shooting and that can be replaced same goes for the extractor. But I truly think they are more accurate than the stock Ruger 10/22. Although I love the little Ruger.
And I am more apt to pick the Marlin up for small game hunting than my 10/22’s.
They are good rifles for a good price.

Edit;
Say jrog100….I had a Marlin 60 do the same thing, with the thing trying to go full-auto. Same deal 2 to 3 and some times 4 round bursts. Did a real number on barn rats but I had it repaired as well. Wonder how common that is?

I have 3 Model 60s, plus a couple Model 70s which have the vertical stack magazine replacing the tube magazine.

I love them. They shoot great when well maintained and really you can shoot them for years without cleaning them and they still function well.

Under $200 semi-auto .22 rifles, you can't get a more accurate rifle than the Model 60. Period. I have tried them all.

Now, they are not perfect.

One thing I dislike on the newer ones is the amount of plastic used. Also, some of the older models have longer barrels (questionable performance increase) that also have longer tubes which mean more capacity.

Also, compared to the 10/22, there are no gadgets and add on junk sold for them, but also no heavy match barrels, etc.

You can find Model 60s in nearly any pawn shop that handles guns. Some are beat up junk, but you can find good ones and depending on your negotiating skills walk out with one for $60 or $70 dollars.

Great rifles. I have owned many over the years. Had one that could shoot 1 1/4 groups at 100 yards. My son shot a 1 inch group with the same gun at 100 yards. Its about the only cheap off the shelf 22 worth putting a 3x9x 40 scope on. But that was the older model 60 with the longer barrel.
Can't say for the newer ones. But I would bet its still a tack driver.

I had a model 60 that I put about 50,000 rounds though over 20 years. It had been fired so much that the sear wore out and it fired in 3 or 4 shot bursts. I sent it back to Marlin and they fixed at no cost. This was back in the 70's. The thing still shoots today however.

I have 7 of them. I like them. Rarely break and as long as you keep it clean, it will go bang when you pull the trigger.
