This revolver was probably made in the 1940's. I could let someone know the serial # if that would help.

I live in upstate NY and there seems to be a lot of deer around. I've been through several car accidents because of the deer, it is almost impossible to drive at night on the back roads because of all them.
Is this a common problem in other parts of the country?
Any ideas on what could be done to solve this problem?
I personally think the government should declare "open season". Thus hunters are allowed to get as many deer as they can with the gun they want. (At least for a time)

I am looking for an inexpensive pistol that I can carry when I am hunting. I hunt in an area with lots of bears and just would feel more comfortable with a pistol in tote when I am bow hunting. I doesn't have to be big enough to kill a bear but not a .22 caliber.

I am trying to strip the varnish off of a rifle stock so that I can re-stain and finish it. I have let a good coat of stripper soak on it for about 45 minutes and it isnt removing the coating. The coating is becoming a bit tacky and if I try hard enough I can scrape it off. I dont want to scrape, cause I know its going to leave marks in the wood.

Should I let it keep soaking or try something else? What exactly is the "varnish" they use on gun stocks, damn it is some thick stuff!

Is it safe to carry a single action semi automatic pistol chambered with the hammer down.

I have read that the only reason that most call it unsafe is because you have to pull the slide back to chamber a round and then squeeze the trigger while having the thumb pressed hard against the hammer and let it down very easy so it won't fire. Their concern is that your thumb might slip resulting in a round being fired.

If you can do it safely, once the hammer is down is there any danger in the chambered round going off without pulling the hammer back?

Thank you.

I am looking for a new concealed weapon to carry and I am looking to get suggestions.

I am looking for a double action, semi automatic pistol, in .45acp that accepts double stack magazines.

I live in Indiana so there is no restriction in having a magazine more than 10 rounds.

Size is not really too much of an issue with me so it does not matter if it is a full size weapon I can still carry it concealed.
