the most common ones have been mentioned. There is a real growing popularity of .20 caliber loadings (.204 being one) also, the .17 HRM has gotten very popular, enough to spawn the .17Mach2 which I don't think will last. Further, this has renewed interest in the old .17 remington, which is a necked down .223 However, Cartidges of the World lists some 14 caliber wildcats. According to it, after WWII there was a lot of expirimentation with 14 and even 12 cal rifle rounds, often on 222 brass. It turns out that due to lack of weight the effectiveness of these rounds dropped very rapidly after they slowed to just 2500 fps, so they were outperformed by the .17s and the .20s, which is why they have been placed in the dustbin of history.

There are too many to list and think of without missing some. Some of the popular calibers are .243, 25-06, .270, 7mm-08, 7mm mag, .308, 30-06, 300 mag, .338mag, .358 mag, .375 H&H, 45-70, and I probably missed at least 50-60 in between.

There are entirely too many to completely list here. Ball park? Here goes:

.22; .24; 25; 6.5mm (which is a .26 caliber); .270; .7mm & 280 (same diameter); 7.62mm; .8mm (.32 caliber); .338; .350; .9mm; .375; .400; .450; .470 and .50 caliber.

Best.

Go to any gun store. See all the different sizes on the shelves. That does not even begin to be a drop in the bucket.

Pretty much everything you see.

This guy below me is a showoff.
He listed everything, even those smaller than a .22. I think you should pick him, even though his picture is a little scarey.

Buy a copy of Gun Digest, or a guns & Ammo Annual publication. They have pages and pages of info on different calibers and loads.
