I'm looking to buy a Windsor Kennet (windsorbicycles.com) bike (their sizing chart shows that a 56-58cm bike would be more accurate for me) and saw a deal on a 54cm bike. I'm not sure how a smaller frame affects the ride of a bike... does it affect comfort? I'm aiming to do 30-100 mile rides at a decent pace, no racing or anything.

I'm running factory 28/38/48T steel chain rings, 7 speed cassette and chain. The crank arms are clunky Suntour aluminum pieces. I really need something lighter and stronger.

Derailleurs, Bottom Brackets, Cranks, hubs, you name it, Shimano makes LX and XT varieties, and both are consider 'upper-line' products. But the cost differences are amazing! XT typically costs about twice what LX does, but is the increase really that great in terms of performance?

i found these two frames on ebay. please read them and tell me which one you would buy and why. i am looking for something for XC with around 4-5 inches of travel, disc compatible, with an air shock. if you know wnywere else to get a descent DS frame with that criteria, please let me know. i dont want to spend anymore than $500. im only a begginner so i dont need top of the line, not that i can afford it anyway....

My grandsons bike was left out in garden in all bad weather. The chrome on wheels is very badly rusted. My husband has been using a wire brush and wire wool but it is still bad. Can anyone help with solutions how to get this rust off or at least most of it.

A year ago, I found a bottom bracket that allowed both forward and reverse pedaling. Reverse pedaling still resulted in a forward direction. This product was used on mountain bikes to allow different muscle to be used to extend human effort.

I can't find the site now.

It was going for $150 made in Korea or Taiwan. It may have crank arms attached.

I plan on getting a road bike for casual riding and some time next year, when I get fitter and faster, I will want to join some local competition.

I was looking at some road bike for a long time and now, I saw this triathlon bike which I really like but my local bike shop and friends advised me against it as we do casual ridings uphill, downhill, slopes, straight roads, etc. I was told that road-bike are more suitable for all types of terrain, meanwhile triathlon bikes are only for straight road, for speeds.

Is it really that much of a difference between a tri-bike and road-bike? Can I get a tri-bike and set it up with a road-bike handlebar for regular rides and then the aero-bar for competition races.

What's your advise? Is a tri-bike a real no-no for casual riding? Please help. Thanks.
