This may not sound good but you're asking for an opinion and I would say your chances of being a pro cyclist are between slim and none.
Most people look and say cycling is a fun thing to do and like being that weekend warrior, they look at the TV and see the glory and how cool it is and never think of the work involved and when it becomes work or a job, they want nothing to do with it, that's when they hang up there bike.
So ask yourself, are you willing to train and ride a bike 6 to 8 hrs a day, do strength training everyday, eat and sleep bicycles seven days a week because that's what it will take, it will become your job, and unless you're good enough to win and get good sponsors and land on a pro team, well lets put this way very few people or pro cyclist make any real money at that job.
Not trying to pop your bubble but it's the truth.

Ric paints a pretty good picture of what it takes to be at the pro level. But I think a lot of things also have to come together for you: you have to be young enough, have a good coach, be able to attend the local race circuit, develop the mental and physical stamina to carry you through the tough times, have the right equipment, sponsor, and the list goes on. Also, (and unfortunately), the chances are a lot higher if you live in Europe than in North America. I know former national pro racers who had the talent but could not get sponsors, and alternatively I know some excellent racers who came to the sport too late in life to be able to make the pro circuit.

the chances are very low... you must be around 17 years old.. and train for more than thirty hours a week.. so you must have the time and money to do that; and besides that, you must have the natural cyclist body shape, and high tolerance to suffering.. after all that, you must win lots of races and probably be seen by a sponsor who likes you and invites you to join a pro team..
