Please. I ride my bike over 13 miles round trip to work and I very much enjoy it. If your bike commute sucks so much for you, then maybe you should find another way to get to work instead of complaining.

I would love to live that close to work but the neighborhoods around my work is not the best. I ride 18 miles each way to work off and on and have made it more enjoyable by using electric assist.
Adding 400W of power to your existing bike for pennies of electric power a day could improve your outlook on riding to work. Check out what is available.
I did the conversion in about 90 minutes and was riding the thing within two hours.

If you don't keep your bike in shape it sucks. Be good to the bike and it will be good to you. Ride as long as you can. Some people would love to ride 16 miles a day.

I say keep doing as long as you can. I started to do it this summer and really had a good time doing it and I felt great at work. One thing you can do is keep track on how many miles a week that you are riding and watch how fast it adds up and gives you something to be proud of. Once again, I say keep on biking!

Actually it is a great way to keep fit. I wish I could bike to work (except that my work is 16 miles away from where I live). And if you live in a state where there is winter, you might want to take the bus by then.

Not really.
That isn't far at all on a bike.
Could be worse .. you could have to walk!
My kids (all under 12 at the time) and I used to ride 10 miles every day just to go to the swimming pool and grocery store.

Dude,
Use your commute as training...if you ride everyday, you'll be logging in more miles than most weekend wanna-be racers. Then enter some bike races and win some races. Then it won't suck.

Now, I prefer cycling over driving.
