if you have cash to spend, why not get those bike stands by minoura, it holds three bike on a pole ! looks into it.. its worth it. but if cash is the issue then the hook works just fine! i would use two hooks and hang up on the top tube making it look like a picture. remember to wrap up the hook if you are going to hook it up on you top tube, it will scratch your bike.. other than that .. CHEERS.

My electric assisted bikes and trikes are too heavy to lift and hanged but I do have a very lightweight carbon composite monoque frame bike that I hang with hooks on two wheels in the garagge.
My bike is 17 lbs but even if it is significantly heavier like 35 lbs it will still be plenty safe to hang it on its wheels. Hanging it get it out of the way and help prevent dings and scratches. I use the bike itself to hang my bike shorts, jersey, gloves and helmet so every thing cycling is in the same place. If you have an expensive bike, don't hang it by a window as the light can fade paint and entice someone to consider ripping you off.

A better way of storing your bike or bikes is to buy a bike stand, I have two road bikes an MTB and a Recumbent on mine and they work great.
Using a vertical hook is a good way to store a bike, but never under any circumstance hang your bike by the front wheel, it can screw up the front end of the bike.

Hooks are a great way to store a bike especially if you are living in tight quarters. I can't see how it can significantly screw up your bike unless you're hanging off it all the time. One hook is good but I prefer using two hooks and hanging it upside down.

Not much I can add, but the yeah, the rims are more than strong enough to support a bike's weight. Think of it like this...the rims have to support your weight as well as the bike's at the same time as you are travelling (add momentum in there!). Hanging from a hook is nothing.

I stored my bike upside down on two hooks for years in the garage. It worked great and it was easy to put it up and take it down.

If it's a real small place take the wheels off the frame and put each of them in a large plastic bag and wrap the frame in a plastic bag too. You can also take the pedals off and do the same thing. You can store all the pieces in a closet if you need to. Let the air out of the tires also.

Hanging your bike will do nothing to it. If you have a suspension fork on the front of your bike, they say storing it upside down keeps the seals moist.

Hook is good. Make sure the hook is screwed into the wall stud solidly.

Hooks are fine, hang it by the rims, won't hurt it at all.
